This is a video explaining a leak that we had in our apartment at The Crystal House in Long Beach New York. This building is owned by Paulsen Real Estate. When we told the manager of the building about the leak and a gas leak in the kitchen we were told that we complain too much and that they couldn’t deal with it. It was apparently too cold at the time for them to fix the ceiling according to the building manager. They never followed up on this issue and once it rained it leaked into our apartment. This building is AWFUL and the manager’s office is run by someone who spends more time taking cigarette breaks than paying attention to the tenants. The staff that works in the building is a great group of guys but unfortunately the owner is a slumlord and managerial staff is incompetent. Paulsen asked why this is his responsibility when we asked for a letter to the insurance company. Had they returned our messages and fixed the ceiling we would not have to replace a computer.

The walls in this building are thin and when our next door neighbor was washing feces covered sheets in the community washing machines we were once again told that it was not their problem. The manager leaves in the early afternoon on weekdays so she is never available when she is needed. Once I was locked out and through the office door they told me to walk around the building barefoot to find a staff member to let me in. I was told I could not come into the office to use a phone to try to call someone to help me get back into my apartment. Luckily I am soon moving out of this terrible building and into a bigger and much nicer one down the block with a complete gym and many other amenities. The punchline? The bigger and nicer building costs only $5 more monthly than this horrible dump!
