I need to lose about 150 lbs. How long should it take?
I’m trying to count calories and added walking as my exercise. I seriously don’t have time to work out hours at a time or do anything to complicated for a workout. I have 3 small kids, a full time job, and my house duties daily to do, so the simpler the better. I even started taking the little ones with for the walk cuz we live near the beach and they think it’s great.
I’m guessing that losing 150 pounds will take anywhere from 1 and a half years to 2 years depending on how fast you lose.
On another note, I think that taking walks is a great idea! In my opinion, it’s better to start slow than to do too much or do nothing at all. Frankly, if you are going to do another exercise I would recommend swimming, since it doesn’t put too much stress on your joints.
Great job on starting a new healthy lifestyle, and good luck!

If you don’t have much time for exercise, why walk?!
If you jog or run, (or swim, considering you are near the beach) you will lose a lot more calories and strengthen your heart more in the same amount of time. It will take a considerable amount of time to lose 150 lbs., maybe even a year.
To ensure success, count calories, do cardio, but also, make sure to do some strength training, such as Calisthenics. Pushups, dips, pullups, squats, crunches, all that good stuff.

150 pounds would probably come off in around 18 months, or 1 year 6 months. Remember to not be so strict that it causes you to stress though. eat that cake every once in a while, moderation is the key!

Well there are some things that burn calories very quickly.
Exercising on an eliptical rider or rowing machine at your THR (target heart rate) = 850 calories for 30 minutes if you don’t stop.
There’s more on this website that should help you: http://www.tooelehealth.org/Community_Health/CVD/Calories_Burned.html
Walking should not be your ideal workout if you don’t have much time for anything else. You want to do things that will burn calories quickly. Maybe try going to a pool with your kids – they can play and swim while you do laps etc.
Try and do small things at your job as well that will add up such as tapping your foot etc.
