So I had a dream and I want to know what it means.
In my dream I was with a friend from work, we were going to get a salad to eat. To get it we had to climb a ladder. My friend climbed the ladder, got her salad and came down. Also this guy I have had a crush on for a while was there and when I was going to climb the ladder he began to lightly tease me in a flirty way so I told him to go first. He just like my friend got his food and left. When I climbed the ladder however, mine was much more higher than theirs. Mine took me all the way to the roof of a skycraper! When I got my salad it was mainly liquid. Like it had too much dressing or something. And I was on top of the ladder and on one side I could see my friend from work, my crush and two super models hanging out and eating their food, and on the other my food on top of the skyscrapper’s roof. The other people were having a good time inside their building yet I chose to get on the roof of my skyscraper instead of with them but once I got there I was way to scared to move because it was way too high and very small, I barely fit in it, I could have fallen at any moment. I was too scared to fall and wanted to cry and started to think I should just jump off and thinking of my grandpa who is dead. Also, while all these ideas of jumping off or thinking of my grandpa were going through my mind I could hear my crush and friend and models talking about the parties they go to and how much fun they had.. Then I started telling them (while on the skyscrapper on all fours too afraid to move) that I was going to Canada, that i went often. And then my dream changed, I was in Canada under water kind of drowning. I got out of the water and I was on a beach, and I could see a lot of tourists. I started running kind of like for fitness and then I woke up.
I know it’s really long and probably doesn’t make much sense but I woke up with this feeling of apprehension and i’m kind of scared not sure of what. Thank you.
Dreams don’t mean anything and there’s nothing symbolic about them.
They’re either random or they have something to do with what you were thinking about before you fell asleep.
Recurring dreams just happen to occur more than once.
Still mean nothing.

It means that you should stay off drugs, work hard at school to get good grades, and obey your parents.

hi. well i really am not sure what major to choose. i am currently a freshman at csu long beach.
i want to make my choice soon. i was considering nutrition but im not sure if the pay is too good, and if the demand is high.
i would love a job that involves the opportunity of traveling. i love mathematics. i speak, write, read spanish and english. i love giving speeches, from what my teachers and fellow studenst have said i am really good at it. i love performing. i am very interested in fitness and a healthy diet. i am very independent and for the most part prefer independent work.
well these are things that i love, so i was hoping that maybe someone can give me an idea of a job that may fit me. i really want a job i enjoy, however the pay is extremely important to me, i come from a poor family so i just really want to offer my family and i a much better future. so i really dont want to take any risks when it comes to such a huge decision. i would love a job thats more secure, stable and promising. one that id be sure id have high chances of getting hired in after college.
thanx for you help!
Most professions have a wide salary range so there are no guarantees of getting a job or making a huge salary. Nutrition has many facets and the pay varies with both skill level and where you are employed. Most nutritionists are employed by local governments, hospitals, etc where wages are not bad, but you will not get rich. If you are good at writing and speaking you may able to expand your nutrition skills into a business where you author books and lecture on the subject. The Internet makes it easy to get started with a blog and e-books but the competition is stiff. You may be able to use your spanish to give you access to an under-served market. Once you establish your reputation, the money will follow. You could start a blog or website while you are in college to learn and build a following. Good luck The PracticaL Mentor

I’m 19 years old, for my boyfriends 21st birthday his mom got us a trip to Santa Barbara.
I want to get in shape and maybe loose some stomach and leg fat. I have a gym membership to 24 hour fitness, I just got it a couple weeks ago. The trip is in a month.
What machines and everything will help me loose this? And how long should I spend at the gym/and how often should I go?
What foods should I stay away from, and what would be really good for me right now?
All I drink is water and juices and stuff. I always have since I was little.
Sorry not "loose" if your going to be like that.
In other words, tone my fat and get a better looking body.
Don’t answer this if you don’t have anything to help me with.
I used to play softball for 10 years, and when I stopped playing I just kind of got lazy and stopped working out and everything.
I don’t want to talk to a trainer because I don’t have the money to.
eat protein and stay in the gym for a few running helps a lot but eat small healthy snacks everyday and your probably not fat your just not ready yet.. your probably a wonderful looking girl!

I like Both Branches. The Marines are small but they all go to the same boot camp, which is there basic training. Its twelve weeks long and it has the title as the hardest basic. Which is why if you join from another branch. You have to do that basic again. The Army on the other hand the standard 9 week basic for everybody and then it has different bootcamps for combat jobs and MP. I went to 19-D Cavalry and it was sixteen weeks long. Recon! I talked to a guy who was in the Marine bootcamp but had to leave because he popped but false positive for Hiv. He was now with us in the Army (Negative for Hiv) and he looked like he was about to fall on his face and so was I. I think he made it to week 13 and never saw him again. I liked him I think he was cool but it was rough and people got injured. Some guys almost died.
There is MP which is 15 weeks long and the grunts do 14 weeks for infantry.
The Army doesn’t use another branch like the Marines to do its job. That is why the Army trains combat soldiers differently from support. If everybody does their job right. We wont all have to go out and fight. The Army is large and slow but has parts like the Airborne and Airborne Rangers and US Special Forces and Delta Force. And those are ready to strike all over the world in a matter of hours.
The Marines are limited in size by congress. But they all have great training for combat. The Navy supports the Marines and gets them around. This gives them the ability to get places fast. If there was a war on the other side of the world. There is probably a US Navy ship somewhere around there just in case and there are sure to be some Marines with them. The Marines are a Great US Fighting Force. But the size of that force wouldn’t be enough if we had a large scale modern war with an enemy of equal or greater fighting power to our Country. But when you compare it to other Marine Forces. It ranks high in the world. The Best. It is part of the Navy Team. And its numbers when all components are counted is larger than some Armies. They specialize in attacks from the sea. That is what makes them different from the The Army because the Army attacks from land and air most of the time. The Army has Divers by the way. Normandy is an exception to that. The Army took the beaches in Normandy. The Largest amphibious attack that I have knowledge of in History. Hoah!
So I say
It depends on you. What you like. The Army has more jobs. In all categories. And depending on what what you qualify for and your fitness level. The Army will get you there. You just have to qualify and go to training. Some jobs don’t require alot. But you are still a soldier and part something Greater than yourself and that feels good. And then there are other jobs that are mentally and physically demanding and you will have to work hard. Harder than you ever worked in your life and be tested in every way so that you can become the very Best in the World.
There is the Marines too and they have different standards. They do pull ups instead of push ups. ( Push Ups work more muscle groups and they work the ones that matter most) and run an extra mile on the fitness test. That doesn’t mean that they run more than the Army. We all do the same runs. But they test you to run three and the Army tests you to run two. So don’t think that joining the Army is going to be easier on you.
Whats Great about the Marines is that they do shorter deployments. And they get around on those ships. All over the world. Join that branch and you may go around the world twice. And the Marines have alot of fans. People usually think that the Marines are trained better than Soldiers. And that is only true for a the non combat side of the Army because they train on other type of warfare after they do basic. But the public still favors them because they don’t know. They just assume.
Also Marines like water and beaches. If you do. The Marines are better for you.
The Marines also claim to be the most elite. But the truth is that those standards are close to Army Airborne Infantry which is harder on the upper body than Marines are and have different running standards as well on the pt test. And is more dangerous I must add then coming into land from an lcac or whatever. I think that there are more elite branches inside the Army than the Marines as a whole. Army vs Marines. I choose Army because the Marines can’t defeat the Army. They need the Navy and the Navy is Specialized for water so unless the Army decides to go take over the ocean which they wont. The Army will win in any real scenario on land. Thats what it is there to do. Like the Navy on water. The Marines provide a small Army like Force within the Navy. They are the Navy’s main infantry. And they are Great at what they do. But the Army is the Best at what it does. The Marines are Great all around. But the Army has guys like that and worse. And the numbers are bigger specially in Special Ops and Special
Hi again
And yes I know that you have to go to SOI after your basic training. Thats the way the Marines do it. The Army makes your unit train you and prepare you after your bootcamp. It doesn’t really make a difference because they will train you all over again and send you to schools once you get there. And the Army has more schools anyway. And what do you prefer someone trained to work on a team at a school or someone trained by his or her unit. It doesn’t make a difference where they do it but it does make a difference for unit cohesion. The Army will send you to schools not just one school.
Oh and when I said that the Army doesn’t need another branch. I meant it doesn’t need another branch to perform its main task.
Gotta Go Late
Hey if you think I wouldn’t make it in the Marines. Your right. I can’t do many pull ups. But I am strong where I need to be and pull ups are not working out as many groups as push ups. Push Ups are better for fighting. I think so. lol
Who do you know that is weak in the US Cavalry?
There is no female Cavalry Bootcamp
Could it be that that is bothering you?
Being a woman I would expect different
The Army isn’t so small that it can say we only have The most fittest people. We need people with brains too. Not just some idiot who can lift but can’t think for him or her self. There is this and that in the Army and they are all the best at what they do. Trained to be the best by the best.
Don’t underestimated the value of people. Just because someone isn’t as fit as you are doesn’t mean that person can’t kill you. Some guys look weaker than they are and the Greatest Wars and Battles have been won using the Human Brain.
And by the way CJ. The First to fight are not always the Marines. It goes like this. CIA Special Forces then maybe Marines and Army. And the Marines dont go alone. The Army has units that are just as fast and are all over the world ready to strike in a matter of hours. And like I stated before. First Spies
then Special Forces (Delta included) and Then the rest of the US fighting forces. Marines have competition. Not only from the Army but from the Navy as well. The Army fights with its Brains too. And has many more of the Smartest and Fittest people on Earth. And they are not trained to boast about it like the Marines are. Which makes them better people. Hoah!
I’m dropping the Riflemen comment because there are too many definitions for it
And the ARMY has Advanced Anti Air Defenses and More Attack Helicopters than most countries can handle And a Drone Air Force is upcoming, And the Army makes bunkers and fortifications
Plus i just read that the Navy is gonna have 40000 Naval Infantry men. That mos is gonna be deeper than the Marines Infantry and getting close to the Armies size for infantry. Wow!
There are some things you said which I don’t agree with. First, recruit training is 13 weeks long, not 12. You still have to go to SOI after that.
The Army does rey on another branch. They rely on the Air Force to get them there most of the time and they rely on the Air Force for much of its close air support.
One of the biggest errors is that the Army has the most jobs. Yes, if you count each individual job, that is true. They also have more people to fill those jobs so, it doesn’t provide any greater opportunity for an individual. The Marine Corps has more types of jobs. So, if one wants to work on amphibs or fighter aircraft they can do that in the Marines.
I’m glad I joined the Marine Corps. It’s a tougher life and sometimes we live on ships but, all the extra daily effort to be a Marine was worth it to me.
There are some things you are mistaken about but, that’s ok. The Army does have larger numbers in many fields. Large numbers of people is exactly what the Marines are not about. They must be able to attack and win with a small force.
The Army only has about 3 times as many people as the Marine Corps so, I wouldn’t be too sure the Army could take on the Marine Corps and win. Have you ever seen the Marines soften up an area with air strikes? You don’t want to be on the receiving end of that.
Anyone will tell you that you need air superiority. The Marine Corps has an air wing which provide air superiority. The Army doesn’t.
It’s fine to fool yourself about the Army and Marines. Just don’t going around trying to sell other people on stupid ideas like that.

I am currently taking a break from college due to the loss of my scholarship. I am currently paying back the stafford loan I took out for my first year, which is only 3500 dollars. I’m hoping that I can find some way to pay for school either this fall or summer. That aside, I am obsessing over my next concern… what to actually major in. I have many interests ranging from Physics (preferably astrophysics) to philosophy and law, and nearly everything in between. Educationally, I have no end goal in life. I plan on taking classes off and on for the as long as I can. I say this because i model my actions and life after Renaissance ideals. I believe in physical fitness and athleticism, a well rounded education encompassing the liberal arts, world culture, and the sciences, and a love for classical arts (architecturally, artistically, and musically).
Now the problem… where do I start? I know I need a good major that will give me a solid foundation after college, meaning the financial stability to enjoy life with my fiance (well, by then wife) and continue educating myself both independently and institutionally. My fiance’s Dad is a college professor and holds the same ideals I do. He holds 3 Bachelor degrees, 2 Master’s Degrees, (and is working on his third), and a Doctorate. He informed me that I need not major in the Liberal arts field because jobs were scarce in those fields. This still leaves me with a question: What is marketable? What major will get me a job fast? I’m not worried about making a butt load of money right out college. I simply want to know that when I get out, there will be positions waiting to be filled. I’d really like to become a high school teacher, preferably in either English, Literature, Or Chemistry. My end goal career-wise is to either become a high school teacher, or, if I major in Chemistry, move on to become a graduate professor in astrological chemistry. This leads me to my final concern (I promise I’m almost done, lol). My fiance works in the media. More specifically, she is a producer. Jobs in her field aren’t common across the continental U.S. What am I to do if there are no openings anywhere around openings in her field? Let’s say that when I graduate from college (and for example’s sake with a degree in high school education) there are no openings in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Well I can only find an opening in Georgia, but there are no TV stations hiring there. What happens then?
I apologize for the length, but I am extremely stressed about this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I think your best bet would be one of the basic majors.
English, Math, Chem, Physics, History, etc.
Because of your fiancee’s limited flexibility with job openings, it would be best to stick to those, which give you great foundations, aren’t too specific, and you can do a lot of things with all of them.
I wish you the best.
Edit: I plan on majoring in Accounting.
There are always accounting jobs.
No matter the status of the market, there’s gotta be someone there to count the money we’re gaining or losing.

Hey – I’m 15 and am currently looking at joining the marines when I’m 18 (but signing-up at 17 to avoid waiting times when I leave college).
I was just wondering: though anyone, within reason, can acquire the fitness for the RM, is there a way to develop oneself for the challenge at hand. For example, I am a keen runner; I run trails, roads, sand dunes, beach – basically anywhere possible – and will often push myself beyond normal limits. Also, when I go hiking with a fell walking club, I’d rather stay with the front group on a big walk and risk passing-out near the end, than enjoy a quiet stroll through the village of Hawkshead with the Beginners’ Group. I believe I have the commando state of mind due to this, and the fact I like a challenge and believe in a lot of the cliche quotes to do with pain and success etc etc.
However, my one struggle is upper-body strength. I swim 2-3 times a week for more than an hour, I do push-ups and tricep dips when I do circuits, but I have never been able to get over a high wall without support and a lot of general faffing. Whether the excuse of being 6ft2 and having ‘longer levers, making it harder’ is viable or not, taller men have passed training so it shouldn’t stop me.
Is there ANY way I can prepare for activities like the obstacle course, rope climb and Tarzan course?
Many thanks.
If your struggling to get over high walls, then the best thing to do is buy a Chin Up bar and practise, practise and practise more pull ups and chin ups.

Hi. For the past 4 or 5 months i was going through the hiring process to be a correctional officer for Arizona DOC. I passed the written test, fit pro test, drug test, psychological test, medical/physical test but im not sure if i passed the background check. The Background Investigations Unit called me last week asking about my previous jobs, criminal history, etc. I was honest to them about trying weed twice when i was 19 (Im 23 now) but have been clean ever since and i also had a juvenile record that was expunged by the the state of California. The guy who called me asked me about each offense that i had which most of them weren’t filed…in other words i beat most of the cases except one for assault when i was 15 which i was sentence to probation until i was 18 but ended up getting off when i was 17 for good behavior and good grades in school. anyways they also asked me do i know or have i ever known any gang members. i said yes i do know gang members. growing up los angeles anybody/everybody is going to know somebody in a gang unless you live in beverly hills or malibu or somewhere. This is the main reason why im trying to relocate to another state. Tired of the violence and hearing about friends of mine getting shot. Anyways i was honest about everything. The background investigator told me if i get a call back from them then that means they thought i was lying about something so the next step would be taking a polygraph test. After that he said but if i get a call back from my recruiter then that means im ready to start the academy. A week later i got a letter in the mail saying that i was disqualified for one year for reasons unknown. i was confused because they said worst case scenario is that i would have to take a polygraph test to prove that i was telling the truth. I kept calling my recruiter for 2 days straight and nobody ever picked up the phone or returned back any of my calls. Can somebody please tell me why they think i was disqualified? I lost a lot of money going back and forth from long beach to arizona 4 or 5 times, calling off work, paying for rental cars, gas, and working very hard preparing myself for the fitness test. i just need an answer since they dont want to return my phone calls. I know this is a long explanation lol but please take the time to read it and respond. Thanks.
Actually that was a good letter. i know it is disappointing but
you got a big break.
They feel there hasn’t been enough time from using drugs and being on probation to know if you are going to stay on the straight and narrow.
They want to see.
If they didn’t want you that would have been their chance to shut you down completely.
They like you but want one more year.
Do a year or even 2 of College and re apply.
Write out what you said , so you say the same thing next time.
