I will be attending Cal State Long Beach in the fall and I am planning to major in Kinesiology. What can go well with it, perhaps a double major or minor with nutrition? or perhaps business? And how is the job outlook jobs like personal training, fitness teachers, PE teachers, Coaches, etc. Thanks!
I doubt you will have enough room for a minor or a double major. Your course load will be intense as it is. I am taking kinesiology as a pre-med program, so there are numerous job opportunities with it.

For the commercial ""Beach Tweet: Diet Pepsi Commercial Starring Sofia Vergara and David Beckham"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=FEFI-_Sg5G0
1.Pepsi’s Diet Pepsi commercial features Sofia Vergara, a Colombian actress, and David Beckam , a British soccer star, to sell their product. At the beginning of commercial, Sofia Verger is seen laying on a beach chair, fanning herself from the heat. Thirst for liquid, she looked around and saw a young lady drinking a can of ice cold diet Pepsi. She is eager for one, but the line at the vendor is abnormally long. Using her handy tool of Twitter, she tweets a lie; “At the pier…just saw David Beckham!(Beach Tweet).” Surprisingly, everyone on the scene gets the tweet and rush to the pier in the hopes of seeing Beckham. With everyone gone, she went for a can of refreshing diet Pepsi. Refreshed, Beckham walks over to pick up his soccer ball and asks her “What’s going on over there?” Pepsi targeted young females as the main audience of this commercial. Nearly all casting are females in their 20’s, healthy, fit, and sexy. Pepsi cleverly used all three appeals: ethos, logos, and pathos.
2.When one is asked to think of a soft drink, more often than not the Pepsi franchise comes to mind. Pepsi is a prominent leader in the beverage market. “Ranking as the 43rd largest company on Fortune 500 and the largest beverage company in the world(Pepsi History)” is impressive enough to attract consumers. Diet Pepsi is a trademarked product of PepsiCo, Inc that has “stood the test of time since 1898(Pepsi History).” The fame of David Beckham and Sofia Vergara bring a sense of reliability to product. Fans adore products their idols promote and will often buy that product to test it out. The scene from the commercial provides evidence of this; after Sofia tweets that she saw Beckham at the pier, everyone rushes over immediately. Pepsi wants their audience to see it as a trustworthy, reliable, trendy, and all-round exciting company.
3.Pepsi recognizes its audience and plays toward their interests very wisely. The logic of the ad states that diet Pepsi is most refreshing soft drink in the world and drinking it buys fitness motivation and self-worthiness. The silver aluminum diet Pepsi can shines like a star that attracts all incomers like a sexy women. A scale is seem hanging on the pole of the vendor shop scales at 90, an ideal weight or percentage perhaps? Sofia is willing to lie to her fans on twitter just to get one. Her relief facial expression from heat with help of her can of diet Pepsi is priceless. “Nothing refreshes like a diet Pepsi(Beach Tweet).” David Beckham’s role at the end add support the idea of drink this, become fit, and get handsome men and it as almost a wish grant true. In the commercial, everyone buy and drink diet Pepsi only.
thank you.
it looks good.

I’m a college student attending an american/international university in Rome, Italy. I love traveling and have pretty much commited to including it in my career throughout my life. I also am a very serious fitness enthusiast who has been doing CrossFit and living a healthy lifestyle for years. I’ve never done any type of fighting practices but one of my dreams when I was younger (after watching a Lanna Muay Thai documentary) was to go to Thailand and train in Muay Thai. I’m now older and, even though I’ve never trained in a fighting practice before, I want to seriously consider going to Thailand after I graduate with my bachelor’s here. I think it would be a beautiful adventure that would combine traveling with fitness and would be a perfect getaway after having graduated.
I know it’s generally cheap to live in Thailand but it also varies depending on your lifestyle. So, I will try to describe my desired style of living and then, hopefully, someone could comment on how much I should expect to spend…
- I would be paying for monthly training (at Sinbi or Tiger or a similar gym)
- I would prefer to live in a single room but something modest. While I’m willing to spend more to live alone, I would not be willing to take a king size room that costs a lot more.
- I am very open to all types of food and therefore would not have a problem with eating traditional Thai food.
- I would most certainly rent a motorbike monthly.
- I would use a cellphone (hopefully just pop a Thai SIM card into my blackberry if it’s possible??)
- I would partake is modest amounts of entertainment (movies, beach, pool, massage, etc).
- And random, smaller costs that experienced individuals might think of such as pharmacy items or clothes, etc.
- And, finally, I would also go to Patong once a week. I’m a firm believer in enjoying yourself as long as you do it responsibly and IN MODERATION! I’ve been a middle class individual for my whole life and have done my fair share of partying. Therefore, I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be the type to get drunk and blow tons of money. I guess in evaluating the cost of Patong once a week for me, you can figure that I would spend whatever it cost to get there and back, get tipsy/slightly drunk, and have a fun time without buying drinks for everyone at the bar.
I REALLY appreciate any response as you would be helping me get one step closer to fulfilling my dreams. =]
Average cost of living in thailand:

hope it helps!

Some friends and I are trying to come up with some ideas for vacation next year (2012). We were considering Atlantis on Paradise Island, however the prices and costs of food are a bit of a turn off. I don’t mind paying for a good vacation, but 15% gratuity on every meal, $25 hamburgers, and the hour long waits to get into restaurants don’t really thrill me. I’d like to be able to eat when I want to eat, and do what I want to do, when I want to do it. And it just seems like they want to charge you for every little thing, and nothing at all is included for free. Atlantis isn’t ruled out, we’d just like to find some other options.
What we’re looking for:
- First and foremost, we want it to be safe. No shady areas, or one of those "don’t wander off the hotel property/watch your drink constantly" resorts. I understand you always need to be alert and aware, but I don’t want to be in a bad area that puts us at risk.
-Beach front… Obviously has to be on the beach. Don’t want something that is 4 miles inland.
- A nice variety of restaurants and food, at decent prices. It’s nice to have different options than just the one in your hotel. And it’s nice to have a burger that doesn’t cost $25+ and an hour wait. I’m also a "fine diner", and I realize what’s involved, but I also don’t want to end up paying $200 +15% for a steak and glass of wine either, that I would pay $60-$100 at home for.
- Nightclubs, a fitness center, waterparks, jet skis, other fun stuff… I love just sitting back relaxing, but it’s nice to have other stuff to do as well. So these would be a plus.
- And definitely a good overall staff at the resort. I’m on vacation, I don’t want to have to worry, or be bothered by going through hassles everywhere I go. The friendlier you are, the better and more comfortable I feel.
I realize it’s a lot to ask, to have all of these wrapped into one.. But I know there is a lot of people out there who have traveled more than I could ever imagine. Basically, it would be nice to have an Atlantis-type resort, without the over-priced things. So if anyone has any suggestions, whether it be Jamaica, Cancun, Virgin Islands, etc., I’m open to suggestions.
Thanks!
- Chimerik, 1.) it isn’t a list of "demands". It’s a list of "wishes", so to speak. I realize that having all of these things is a rare occasion. 2.) I don’t care if it’s "fake" or not. I’m looking for a nice vacation, at a nice place where I can relax. And as you can clearly see, I am looking for places that are NOT Atlantis, which is why I am asking for alternatives. 3.) Sure, I could ask a travel agent, but is it illegal to get varying opinions online, from people who have been to lesser-known vacation spots? Ones that some agents don’t know of, or wont suggest? It’s called "gathering info from a vast spectrum of sources".
Please comprehend the question before condemning and criticizing next time.
Well. first of all, do you have passports? If not, then the US VirginIslands are your only choice……which, based on 37 years on St Thomas, is apretty goood choice.
Everything from 5 star ( Caneel Bay ) to three star ( Sugar Bay/Frenchman’s Reef ) to three-star -looks- like-where-Buffet-would-have-stayed-before-he -became -rich ( Bolongo Bay) all of the above have what you mentioned…..

I am thinking of moving to Denver and I’m trying to get a feel for what the city is like and weather or not it is a place that will be a good fit for me. I’m 23 years old I grew in Seattle WA but I have lived in Irvine CA for the last year. I really like the idea of living in a place that has all 4 seasons and the idea of being in a city but having the option to get on my motorcycle and get out of town when I feel the need for fresh air and wide open space.
Thing I liked about Seattle where the centralized downtown area and its general walk ability, the personalities of the different neighborhoods, the night life and the music scene, and the general beauty of the being in the Pacific North West.
Things I don’t like about Seattle where the Seattle chill/ the polite but in friendly uninterested way that Seattleites behave, the dark clouds that always hang in the sky, and the general depression and insanity of the population.
The things I like about The OC are just the sun and the beach and that people here are generally into health and fitness. I got a good job that brought me here but I’m just not feeling enthusiastic about staying very long.
Thing I don’t like about The O.C is that feeling that everything is an allusion, people act and dress like extras on a movie set, too many of the women have fake breast and fake tans and I’m just not one of those guys that finds that attractive. Most the people that I meet are stressed out nutcases that aren’t at all personable. The places that I go seem to all lack personalities of any kind, shops and restaurants are all box stores and chains, unless I go someplace like Laguna Beach and compete with locals and tourist to get a table at an overpriced restaurant.
Sorry if I went a little heavy on the background info but basically I’m looking for a place with the qualities I like in other places I have lived and without qualities I don’t like.
Anyway I have a few questions about Denver.
I have come across a few places where people have mentioned how bad the traffic is traffic is in Denver. But I can’t help but wonder is the traffic bad compared to places like Seattle and Southern California or just compared to neighboring states like Wyoming?
What do people think of the public transportation in the city and the surrounding areas?
Something I haven’t really been able to get a feel for. Is Denver a place with a unique personality? In the way that The Pacific Northwest at times has a little too much personality and The OC doesn’t really have any at all.
If I move am I going to have to learn how to ski?
Any clarifications or words of advice would be apriciated.
ski – up to u. denver – nice town. jam aint so bad. motorbike is so easy. pl come now!

Good Afternoon or Morning depending on your location.
I am looking into becoming a Life Guard, working local swimming pools or maybe and when I am fit enough being a life guard at the beach.
Does anyone know what sort of training a life guard has to do? what sort of tasks do you need to complete and roughly how long and expensive is the training?
I am a confident swimmer or average fitness, although I do smoke, which I realise I would need to quit to have sufficient lung capacity.
All advice and opinion is appreciated thank you.
I too had to go through the list of tasks the other person did in the UK it falls under the bronze medallion. for outside work it could be under swift water rescue. these are course that water sports canoeist and fire services do . the y cost around £300 for a weekend the Bronze med was a 12 week course covering swimming lots of Lengths differing style and brick recovery except i Had to swap the brick for a body. the brick represented the body the body was then swim to the side taken out of the pol and CPR took place the body was then placed in the recovery position

I need fashion and style advice. Kind of a long question.I am going on a beach vacation next week. I bought a bikini online (wet seal). I think the style looks great. It is string bikini. Blue with a gold zebra print. I tried it on and in general I think it looks good on me. The suite runs small with a very low rise. Brazilian style. I bought the size I normally would buy. I am a size 5 I selected size small. the style is intended to be small, sexy and revealing. I am fine with all this except I have one concern. When I tried the suite on I noticed that in the back my butt crack showed a little bit over the top waist band of the suite. I have seen this look on some models in fashion and fitness mags however I concerned that it would come of as tacky, slutty or in bad taste. Overall I like the bikini.
What your advice. Do you think I should bring it and wear on the trip or just go with some of the other cute bikinis i have. What would you do?
I posted again because I have 4 yes wear it answers and 4 No go with another swim suite.
If you are confident to wear it and you think it looks good, then go for it!!! Ultimately, it is whether you are comfortable in it or not Hope this helped

My parents 25th wedding anniversary is next year. They basically haven’t had a proper holiday since before they were married so I want to send them away for7-10days. It can’t be a long flight and has to be from the UK. Also i’m paying for this myself so I basically can’t afford to go mad with money. I’m looking for somewhere with some sun, not necessarily a beach holiday as I think they would get to bored with that. Somewhere they could maybe explore around a bit but at the same time relax! They wouldn’t be in position for a fitness/adventurous holiday!
Does anyone have any ideas??? I wouldn’t be sending them anywhere before late next year
Two simple solutions. Cyprus or Malta. Both have a nice climate and are largely English speaking. Malta is more laid back and cheaper. Cyprus has 5000 years of history to explore. The Cyprus Tourist Office has a great site at http://www.visitctprus.com which will give you lots od ideas of whats available. I expect Malta has a similar site but I don’t have a link to it.
Both can be very hot in high summer, like over 100F but come in either June or September and the climate is fine, it’s less crowed and cheaper too.
