i really need to lose weight. being about 150 pounds and only 5′1”, my doctor and parents both say that i’m overweight and at risk for many diseases. but i just dont know how to go about losing weight! so i need your help. *after i detox, i’m thinking about starting the south beach diet. does it really work as well as the book claims? can i really lose 14 pounds in 2 weeks? *i know that every good weight loss plan is a combination of diet AND exercise. i have so much exercise equipment at my house (treadmill, elliptical, bike, bowflex and free weights) but i dont know where to start. what exercises should i do? how long should my workouts be? *finally, i’d really like to tone up my stomach/thighs/butt. there’s too much fat/cellulite and its sick. what exercises will help with this? *is it true that there are negative calorie foods? if so, what are some examples? *any other tips??? thanks in advance. you are loved. If you don’t suffer from a vitamin deficiency, your metabolism will still be incredibly messed up. It will go into starvation mode, and after you switch back to a normal eating schedule, you’ll balloon back up again. The whole process isn’t worth it. Remember how big the Atkins diet was? Where did it go? It disappeared for this very reason- no carbohydrates made their bodies starve, and they gained all the weight back later. I don’t know enough about the South Beach to comment, but always be wary of these solutions- remember, companies are trying to make profits. Other points: You’re right, exercise is very important. You should try something like twenty minutes of cardiovascular activity three times a week. I mean things like running, jogging, or rowing- not free weights, unless you’re looking to gain some muscle. No, there are no negative calorie foods. Celery is debatable because of how little is actually in it besides fiber- that is, your chewing may make up for the calories in it- but you might as well just use that time to exercise and eat something you actually like later. Basically, don’t fall for the idea that there are magic tricks to losing weight. It’s a process- if you want to lose weight, you have to eat healthier overall- follow the food pyramid, and avoid eating too much of things that are obviously bad. Exercise regularly, get enough nutrients- you probably already know all this. Just apply it to your life. Does this sound like torn ACL or Meniscus?Saturday, February 27th, 2010I was injured very badly about 5 years ago with my knee. I don’t remember how long, but it took forever to heal. I was on serious pain pills. In Canada it can take a year just to see a specialist and by the time it was my turn, I felt I was healed. Well the other day, in the rain, I was getting a toddler out of my car awkwardly because there was no room between the cars and the same knee went swinging out the same way as the first time. I didn’t really notice it much at first but by the end of the day my knee/leg was 3x swollen…I mean it was huge! Impossible to bend it. Tons of pain when on it. Very irritable because I was trying to keep doing the norm. Had to use cane to keep weight off as much as possible and since it was a weekend, just stayed off it. Tons of ice and Motrin. It has had popping sounds, very painful if I am on it or have to get up and down or go up and down stairs. I went to physiotherapist and she figures it is torn ACL or cartilage but is seeing me in 2 days to see how it is…also recommending my physician send me to surgeon. I had plans to go on Vacation with friends in July to the beach, and they wanted me to help with child care for little ones…where I am definitely needed to be flexible and up and down and ready to go. They need to know if I am not able to perform, or go on vacation with them. They are now concerned I will even be able to work for good now. I’m like..how do I know how long it will take to heal? I’m worried now and wonder if this sounds as serious as it could possibly be? I am also overweight and was just starting on a fitness routine when this happened…can I eventually exercise enough to get in shape w/o hurting knee? Thank you for your patience in reading my question. My Brotha – God’s Greatest Gangsta -Saturday, February 27th, 2010
Min. Sylvester Dixon III: Born January 4, 1973 to Sylvester Jr. and Lois Dixon. Sylvester grew up on the streets of Long Beach California. He began amateur boxing when he was 8 years old at the Williams (Jeremy Williams) Gym in Long Beach. His dad was his trainer. Sylvester won many fights including the golden gloves and the blue and golden gloves. Both his dad and mom encouraged him to stay out of gangs and follow God. But, being a rebel at the age of 12 he was put on and became a gang member of Suicidal Town Crips on the east side of Long Beach. It was then he was nicknamed Scrap Dog, due to his boxing ability. At the age of 13 he found himself in jail for shooting at a cop. Over the next ten years Sylvester spent a total of 6 1/2 years in California State Penitentiaries. That’s not including County Jail time. Sylvester had four cases in which he faced life in prison without the possibility of parole. Sylvester’s mom Lois continued to pray for him. She would also have him attend church services with her when he was on the streets. It was during his last stay in prison when he finally realized it was God who was keeping him. He began to seek God. Sylvester started reading his bible, praying and fasting. He gave his life to God and asked God to get him out of prison. Sylvester became devoted in his walk for the Lord. While sitting in his cell praying he became filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in tongues. He knew he had a work to do for the Lord. He asked God to allow him to be able to use his passion for rap to reach people. To let people know that no matter where you’re at in life God will be there with you. God told him he was to rap for Him. Sylvester has been rapping for God every since. Once released from prison Sylvester began to witness on the streets. He became an Ordained Minister and went to Juvenile Halls and ministered to the youth. He also councils other gangstas and thugs that are still within the gangs, letting them know that Jesus loves them and He can reach them where they are. Sylvester has been all over rapping for the Lord. From California to Canada, he’s been reaching souls through Gangsta Gospel Rap. His music lets people know that Jesus is the way and all things are possible in Christ. Duration : 0:4:23 Long Beach, CA – $ 1,700 Condo for RentFriday, February 26th, 2010
